Kevin Wesbroom
Biography Kevin has been with Hewitt (initially Bacon & Woodrow) since 1975, when he joined fresh from gaining a first in Maths from Oxford University, and his first MA qualification. He qualified as an actuary three years later. He did a real degree in e-commerce to gain his second MA! After qualification, Kevin's career in pensions started with a four-year stint in Trinidad. On his return to the London office, he was involved in setting up the performance measurement service CAPS. Next stop Bristol, where he opened the firm's regional office. He set up a consulting and administration practice there, which branched out into investment and international consulting. When the returned to London to join the Management Group of the time, he also set up and led Defined Contribution Services - a new multi-disciplinary practice covering not just DC consulting but also investment design and implementation, administration, communication and provider selection. More recently he was the UK Lead that helped set up our global risk services operation - a mixture of actuarial and investment skills that is designed to help clients navigate their way through the multiple opportunities now available to them to shed their unwanted DB pensions - or perhaps just to manage their risks better so they can continue to offer a form of DB in the future? He has been a member of the Hewitt's key management and leadership teams, typically with a role involving development or growth. And of course he continues to work directly with clients on a range of projects. A common theme running through Kevin's career to date has been the opportunity to interact with individuals from the real world - experiences that he believes have helped him keep his feet on the ground and retain vestiges of personality. He continues to act as pension adviser on a number of client assignments and one off references. He is practicing what he has been preaching about phased retirement by working four days a week. If his views about the shape of future pensions are right, then his final phasing into full time retirement, and the end of private sector DB pension provision, could come together in ten years time!
